Project Manager, Programme Manager, Programme and Project Coordinator, Engineering Background (Hardware, Imaging, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering), Electronics Products
Hybrid Role: Preference is on-site, however hybrid 3 to 4 days a week minimum is also possible in the Cambridge area
My client, a dynamic firm working on a range of cutting-edge projects, is looking to hire an accomplished Project Manager to join a dynamic group that is building and enhancing best-in-class Electronics products that are essential for the UK Defence industry.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Engineering to implement a uniform Project Management framework, coordinate technical delivery across multiple teams and simultaneous projects, ensuring that Engineering and R&D projects are delivered on time, to budget and in line with strategic priorities. The role will combine day-to-day Project Management activities with portfolio planning, cross-project alignment and senior stakeholder management, including across Operations, Product and Commercial teams.
Ultimately, it will be your responsibility to ensure that all projects are running smoothly, acting as the central point of coordination for project delivery. This will encompass: establishing programme-level reporting capabilities, identifying inter-project dependencies and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that project outcomes meet business needs, working with technical leads to ensure that all projects have the correct scope, deliverables, timelines and resource management, developing detailed project plans, coordinating project meetings and ensuring actions and dependencies are carried out and supporting engineers and design teams.
Please note that this role will NOT suit someone with a Software Engineering background.
Desired Skills:
· Proven track record as a Project Manager with an Engineering background (Technology Hardware, Products, Electronics, Imaging, Mechanical Engineering or similar)
· Solid understanding of Engineering development lifecycles, from concept through to production
· Background at Programme Management level – establishing programme-level reporting, governance and review structures
· Proven background implementing a uniform PM structure and delivery and reporting framework to cover multiple projects
· Proven ability to maintain oversight of the broader Programme landscape whilst utilising hands-on Project Management skills across simultaneous projects
· Previous background working closely with a Head of Engineering to increase visibility and improve reporting across multiple projects
· Highly skilled in Risk Management, dependency tracking and stakeholder reporting
· Ability to work in a smaller to medium sized organisation where you are highly visible and have to wear multiple hats in highly dynamic environments
